Joe Wadsack
&
Broadcaster
Flamboyant and straight talking, Joe won the coveted
International Wine and Spirit Communicator of the Year award 2005.
He is currently Richard and Judy's wine expert (Channel 4) and is
one of the authors of the Richard & Judy Wine Guide (Harper
Collins 2005). Joe also appears each month as The Wright Stuff’s
Wine Expert (Channel 5) guiding the viewer to the month’s best buys.
He
also appeared regularly on The Terry & Gaby Show, and is a
contributor to Great Food Live, UKTV Food’s live lunchtime
flagship show as well as presenting his own programme, Great Wine
Walks, also for UKTV Food.
Joe is the face of and corporate consultant to Dartington
Crystal wine glasses – 2006/2007.
Joe studied wine making in
Bordeaux
and has since worked as a wine buyer and consultant for a number of
leading supermarket chains. He’s young, vibrant and authoritative, but
most importantly approachable.
The signs were there from the start – having grown up at his parents'
award-winning pub/restaurant in the Hampshire, he became a devotee to
great food and wine. Having spent a year learning the nuts and bolts of
wine-making in Bordeaux, Joe then progressed, via Oddbins, to the
position of wine training consultant for J Sainsbury before becoming
Wine Buyer and Wine Marketing Manager at Waitrose – a position he held
for five years.
He also has a great palate that culminated in him becoming the youngest
ever International Senior Judge at The Royal Melbourne Wine Show at 29
years old. Joe also writes monthly for Waitrose Food Illustrated and
quarterly for Waitrose in Season. Oz Clarke describes Joe’s tasting
ability as “excellent … with an extraordinary wine tasting repertoire”.
Joe lives near Skegness with his wife and two young children. |
